Association Between Dementia and Patient Diagnosis Lead Investigator: Jillian Meyers Institution : Eastern Virginia Medical School E-Mail : meyersjl@evms.edu Proposal ID : 1548 Proposal Description: The primary objective of this research proposal is to determine the association between Dementia and age, education, and gender. I will be testing a series of hypotheses utilizing the UDS data file. My hypotheses are: Age: - H1: Individuals between the ages of 65-84 have a greater chance of developing Dementia. - H0: Individuals between the ages of 65-84 do not have a greater chance of developing Dementia. Education: - H1: Individuals with 13-16 years of education have a greater chance of developing Dementia. - H0: Individuals with 13-16 years of education do not have a greater chance of developing Dementia. Gender: - H1: Females are shown to have a greater chance of developing Dementia. - H0: Females are not shown to have a greater chance of developing Dementia. Multivariate: - H1: There will be an association of Dementia based on the Age, Education, and Gender. - H0: There will not be an association of Dementia based on the Age, Education, and Gender. This research can help us develop better targeted therapies after analyzing trends in the populations to determine which individuals are at a greater risk
